Question #1: Tell us a little about yourself

You could say I have always had a sense of wanderlust. I’ve lived in five different countries and I spent 15 years travelling the globe with my job. Road trips used to me my fav thing … load the car … and let’s go! However, I perhaps enjoy my creature comforts a bit more these days!

But, I’ve always had a special “thing” for Spain. Why? well, this magical country signed me up way back when I first stepped my 7-year-old feet on its land. Ironically, it was my Mum’s honeymoon, but that's another story! Anyway, ever since Spain has always been my first love. I studied at the University of Oviedo, in Asturias then ran a bar and taught TEFL on the Costa Brava in my vacations. My professional career brought me back to Spain many many times. My family moved to the Costa Blanca over 20 years ago with me taking a little longer than I’d first imagined to join them.

My other passions are renovating houses and interior design. I can’t buy a house that’s “done” as I’ll at a minimum need to knock a wall down or two and not be happy until I’ve created something!

I adore little white mischievous Westie Dogs. Meet Pepper, officially my daughter’s dog, but Pepper and I know the real truth!

I need the beach in my life, and BBQ’s, sunshine and my  family!

Question #2: What motivated you to become a celebrant?

I've always liked a wedding but only more recently have I really begun to LOVE them! Coming from a large family, let’s say that I am a highly experienced wedding guest! At one wedding someone planted a seed by saying “I could see you doing that, you’d be amazing!” after we’d attended a celebrant ceremony. A few months later my celebrant journey began and I still ask myself why didn’t I do it before!!

Question #3: In your own words, what is a Wedding Celebrant?

Your Wedding Celebrant in Spain

I get asked this a lot and here’s what I always say.

  • I help couples who want to have their dream wedding in Spain.

  • I manage the “I DO” part of your wedding celebrations whether on a beach, in a resort, or a Spanish Villa.

  • I create sunny, relaxed wedding ceremonies that are all about the couple

  • I bring couple’s stories to life and friends together with my ceremony scripts personalised for the ceremony celebration on their BIG day.

Question #4: What influences your ceremony style?

My couples!  It’s their wedding ceremony and it should reflect them!

One of my unique skills as a celebrant is in learning about my couples and their unique style. On their day I use this as inspiration to ensure that my style compliments what they’re about and their wedding vibe.

This means that:

  • I can do vibrant ceremonies with fun and laughter.

  • I can do romantic and intimate ceremonies.

  • I can do classical traditional wedding ceremonies.

  • I can do innovative ceremonies with added fun extras.

It’s my role to achieve a ceremony atmosphere that resonates with my couples and their guests.

Question #5: Where are you based? and where do you work?

I’m based around 25 minutes from Alicante on the Costa Blanca in Spain. I deliver magical ceremonies from Murcia to Alicante to Valencia at all sorts of fabulous venues from private villas to hotel resorts, to beachside restaurants and more.

Question #6: What do your enjoy about being a celebrant?

Oh so many things! Being a celebrant really is a fantastic job that I am very blessed to do.

A big thing that I enjoy is definitely the people that I meet. The couples and their individual stories are always fascinating, the family and friends that are involved in the ceremony. The amazingly talented photographers, wedding planners and venue hosts that I connect with. Plus the other professional celebrants that I meet, those from the Ceremony Collective being at the top of that list of course!

Who wouldn't enjoy being in the Costa Blanca sunshine? Visiting amazing venues, discovering new parts of the Costa Blanca region that I've not been to before.

I'm also a fan of the wedding fashion and just I love the different styles of wedding decor, how ceremony spaces are styled always amazes me.

Finally and my favourite part are those magical moments in the ceremony itself when of all the hard work, the discovery calls, the hours or scripting and the writing pay off.

Question #7: Describe your bucket list ceremony?

I get excited about all my ceremonies because no two are alike. However I'd love to do a ceremony on a boat that would be super fun or a wedding at Alicante Castle.

Question #8: What do you think makes your ceremonies unique?

Personalisation and connection. My aim is always that the guests at my wedding ceremonies can easily connect my words to the couple that they know. I write my ceremonies to reflect my couples and what they're about.

Question #9: Tell us a little bit about The Ceremony Collective

Love them ! 5 (plus me) amazing professional celebrants who are all from very different backgrounds with their own unique styles.

Fabulous humans who met by chance and built a connection that I have grown to value greatly.

A thoroughly fantastic group of people who work collaboratively in supporting each other’s celebrancy work. It feels like they’re my biggest cheerleaders and that’s a great feeling! Also available for hilarious insight into our profession, oh and Strictly Come Dancing!

Question #10: Quick Fire Questions

  • Favourite Song Warning Sign by Coldplay. The melody is haunting, always makes me stop no matter what I’m doing. And the Chorus? ….. Oh, it gets me every time! It reminds me to appreciate the now, and hold onto those who truly matter.

  • Favourite Food Tapas of Course! (Patata Bravas with Gambas al ajillo) Oh…. and ice-cream!

  • Who would play you in a movie about your life?I'd like to think someone like Olivia Coleman (a bit quirky, twinkle in her eye, sense of mischief and doesn’t take herself too seriously)

  • Name the reality show you should be on?Interior Design Challenge – My husband must feel like he’s living that show when I decide to start another of “my home projects!”

  • Couples’ day outRoad trip to Granada - Dinner on a rooftop

  • 3 Dream Dinner Party Guests

  1. Michelle Obama – She’s Smart, Glam, Fun & Real with plenty of stories to tell.

  2. Peter Kay – How much fun would he be teasing Michelle and Gary

  3. Gary Barlow (with Piano) - he just seems like a decent, fun bloke with a mountain of talent, he’d be sure to get us all belting out the classics! What a night that would be!
